Anyone thinking about being at McDonald park on the Morning of May 9th? Mercury will already be crossing the surface at 5:30 A.M local time. Got a message from Ken from All-Star Telescopes as follows.
Hello Paul,
My wife and I are visiting Abbotsford in a couple of weeks and will be around on Monday, May 9 during the transit of Mercury. I believe you are meeting at McDonald Park and I thought I would join you if that was OK. I'll likely bring along a couple of telescopes with solar filters.
Please let me know if there is anything I can help with.
Best regards,
Ken
IF YOU'RE INTERESTED PLEASE LET ME KNOW...and I'll be out there to open the park.
Your thoughts??

Mid transit will be at 07:57 and end of transit will be at 11:42 PDT. Planet should be about 12" across a 30' ish solar disc -- so that makes it 1/150th the apparent size of the sun.
Sounds like a fun event if sunny. Hopefully there will be a sunspot or two too.
DSD.
