We are on a summer break from the park activities. There will be no observing session at McDonald park till at least the fall.
Truth is we are short on members able to fill key club positions. At the Annual General Meeting, the club did fill in most positions. We are down a secretary for one. Also getting a park host and doing our public outreach has been a challenge. One of our members started the wonderful telescope loaner program with the FVR Library, and with the retirement of our last Secretary who maintained the scopes, we are also unable to help this program. We just don't have the manpower. Seems like most things, the Club has grown older demographically. I think personally at lot has to do with the sky not being as dark as it was even ten years ago. Also, it costs a lot to get stared, dollar wise. So just to quash any rumors that we are finished... it is not true. We do have a group of very hardcore astronomy enthusiasts who do our very best to keep things going, but with all the request for viewing and equipment fixes, we can't accommodate everyone at this time. Our next Dinner Meet is September 11th 6 PM, at the Crossroads Restaurant. If you would like to help us out, in any way, we would like to come and meet us! MMc
