Just a note if you're interested to show support for the Observatory in Mission. I'd go but unfortunately I'll be the hospital recovering from surgery. At any rate here's a bit of information as to what
is going to take place at City Hall in Mission. Might be a good time to put on your FVAS T shirt as a show of support??? Up to you...I'd set up the 20 inch just outside the main doors if I were able. LOL
Folks:
George Evens will be speaking at the Council meeting on Monday November 2nd at 7pm at City Hall.
His presentation (called a 'delegation' in Council parlance) will focus on asking Council to reverse their decision on cancelling their contract with the MHA and allowing us to continue operating Fraser River Heritage Park, and to complete our development of the Rotary Observatory. George has been informed he will be welcome to speak off the top of the meeting, thus commencing shortly after 7pm, and likely wrapping up following any questions, etc.
Over the past many months, our board has met with Council several times and Rotary has made a presentation regarding the Observatory. To date, no citizens have spoken directly to a public meeting of Council, and George asked a couple of weeks ago if he could do so. Of course he can, as a citizen of our wonderful city who understands our operation and supports our position, and we do appreciate the action he is taking. He's confirmed several facts with us, to ensure his presentation is based on solid ground.
I'm unable to be there...I'm teaching night school in Burnaby at that very time this term...but encourage anyone who can be present to turn up and show support for George as he shows the support our community feels for the MHA. Thanks.
And...please pass this along to anyone you know who supports our continuation at the Park and may be interested in attending for a half-hour or so.
