This years Merritt Star quest was a resounding success. A near record for attendees and some really nice sky at night, made for a lot of good observing. How good? Well, one night Harvey D., an observing friend of mine, with great finding skills, found several globular clusters in Andromeda,M31.
Namely,G1 and several of the Mayal numbers where easily visible in Harvey's 15 Obsession. Jupiter Saturn Neptune and Uranus all put on a good show, despite the low altitudes of the objects.
I also got to test out the new Nebustar filter from Tele vue/Astronomick. Wow what an improvement over the older Lumicon O3 or UHC filters. The Veil Neb and M27 really made this filter work to its max.
I needed to sleep for a couple of days when i got home, managing 24hrs of sleep over 5 nights of observing. MMc
